Soomaal Tipu külas elav vana paadimeister Jaan Rahumaa teeb haavapuust ühepuulootsikut, asendamatut sõiduvahendit kevadise suurvee ajal. Jäädvustatud on ühepuulootsiku valmimise lugu, mis saab alguse haavapuu langetamisest metsas ja järgnevad muud tööd: tahumine, paadi parraste kuumutamine lõkke ja kuuma vee abil, parraste lahti painutamine ja paadile kuju andmine. Suurvee aegu läheb Jaan külla Karuskose talu perenaisele Lilli Liinsonile, kes soovib, et paadimeister talle ühepuulootsiku ehitaks.
