Karula National Park

Karula National Park is situated almost on the southern border of Estonia, far away from big towns. It is a small world – one landscape, one forest, and one parish. The Karula landscape came into being 12 thousand years ago. Estonia was then covered with thick ice, which started to melt and therefore created several unusual shapes of landscape such as the rounded hills, stretched eskers, and ice flow melting slopes. All these forms make Karula almost a textbook example of an ice age-shaped landscape.

Udria beach: high limestone embankment and the sea, sandy beach, pine tree on the beach, shore protection made of stones. Along the river to the red border: Jaanilinna (Ivangorod) fortress, Narva river, Kulgu harbor, Rosson river, boat bridge of Smolka (Tervola) village, border point of the Republic of Estonia - USSR railway in Komarovka village, former village road of Komarovka closed with border barriers, Soviet border guard opens railway border gate, freight train crosses the border from the Estonian side. Tooma Swamp Experiment Station: main building, rooting of a growing birch, test patches for various plants, beet test patch, Lina lake, soil rolling with a two-horse implement. A house in the Kärde manor; here the peace treaty between Russia and Sweden was signed on 21.06.1661.
